Here we are in September! It seems as though the summer went by lightening quick! The sad part was that I couldn't surf that much because there wasn't much of a summer swell and the beaches here in Coronado, Ca. were closed many days due to sewage overload from the Tijuana river. Besides that, we are blessed to be in Southern California and are thankful for your loyal business.

Here are some important Medicare highlights to keep in mind as we head into Fall 2022:

  • Annual Notice of Change (ANOC)

Be on the lookout for your ANOC which should be coming from your insurance carrier via mail or email sometime in September 2022. This notice will let you know if there are going to be any changes to your Medicare health or Rx plans in 2023.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me by e-mailing jim@themedicareanswerguy.com or calling (858) 935-9120. I am accessible and I will be happy to answer all your questions.

  • Annual Enrollment Period (AEP)

Open enrollment (AEP) begins October 15th and goes through December 7th, 2022. During this time, you can change your Medicare Advantage Plan or Rx plan. Your ANOC will detail all changes that are being made in your current plan.

  • TV and Radio Ads for Medicare (Beware!!)

You will start to see hear even more TV and radio ads encouraging you to call an 800 number to review your Medicare health plan. Please don't call that number!! Their motive is to sell you something that may not benefit you here in San Diego. San Diego is a very different market than other counties. San Diego county's medical groups only accept certain Medicare health plans. If you call the 800# and make any changes, then I am no longer your advocate agent broker…the 800# is. Call me instead.

Every summer I take an in-depth annual certification test that qualifies me to sell Medicare products. I also take Medicare plan knowledge exams for each carrier as well as in person training with all the insurance companies. I do this to stay on top of area changes and new products. I want what is best for YOU!

That's what I am here for – to answer any questions you have and to Make Medicare Easy.

  • Medicare Part B Premiums for 2023

Keep your fingers crossed that CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) will lower your Part B premium for 2023…or at least keep it the same as 2022. At the HHS Secretary's direction, CMS reassessed the Part B premium and recommends that the identified savings be incorporated into the Medicare Part B premiums for 2023. Stay tuned!

  • ***SCAM ALERTS***

Social Security and Medicare DO NOT MAKE PHONE CALLS!! Social security sends out an annual notice letting you know of any changes to your account. Notices that you receive saying "It looks like your Medicare or Social Security have been discontinued" are a SCAM. These notices are sent out from insurance agents who are DISHONEST. They want to change your current insurance plan, so they can get paid. NEVER give out your Medicare or Social Security number over the phone. They will trick you and change your plan. I've seen it happen. I don't want it to happen to you.

As always, thank you for your business. Please call or email me if you have specific questions as we head into the Annual Enrollment Period.
