Upcoming 2021 Annual Enrollment
The upcoming 2021 Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 through December 7) is the one time of year
when EVERY person with a Medicare Advantage plan or Prescription Drug plan can make a change to
their plan. As your agent, I am in the middle of getting re-certified with various insurance companies
and it looks like there will be some changes coming for the existing Medicare Advantage and Rx plans for
2021.
It is important for you to know that I am your Agent of Record. What that means to you is that if you
ever have any questions about how your plan works, billing that doesn't seem right, are wanting to
change your PCP (Primary Care Physician) or add a dental rider, etc., I am the person you would call. I
can direct you on how to resolve the problem or, if necessary, do a 3-way call to the insurance company,
doctor's office, or third-party vendor to get it taken care of. I also try to keep you informed of changes
to Medicare or changes to your plan through my monthly newsletters.
But most of all, as an "Independent Agent," I represent ALL the major insurance carrier's products so you
and I can compare the premiums, deductibles, co-pays and added benefits of multiple plans. This way
you can feel confident you have the right plan for your situation. Some agents are "captive agents"
with just ONE insurance company and therefore they can only sell that ONE company's plans - whether
it is the most appropriate plan for your needs or not. They do not have the flexibility to show you
pricing or benefits for multiple carriers so that you can compare them and see which one is the best fit
for your medical coverage and budget.
Also, with the upcoming Annual Enrollment Period you are going to be inundated with television
commercials, mailers, and phone calls. You will run into agents around every corner - at the grocery
store, in the lobby of your doctor's office, at the pharmacy, etc. They are going to attempt to lure you
into a different plan (whether it is right for you or not). If you buy into their rhetoric and sign up for the
plan they are offering, I will no longer be your Agent of Record. That means I can no longer see your
plan or help you with your plan and coverage. You would be someone else's client, or worse, if you sign
up over the phone for a different plan, you will NOT have me as your agent ADVOCATE. And good luck
getting hold of the same person twice when you call the toll-free number for assistance.
